How to Resolve Software Update Failure on Roku?
Without any intervention, any Roku player will automatically update its software or firmware.
You will see one of the following error messages on your display screen when the automatic roku software update failed on your device,
- Error code 001
- Error code 002
- Error code 003
- Error code 005
- Unresponsive Roku service
- Extended outage of the Roku service
- Check if the Streaming Media Player is connected to the correct network
- This is common in wireless networks, and choosing the correct network name will resolve this issue
- Check if the router is in proper working condition
- This can be done by connecting another device such as your mobile phone or laptop with the network
- Check if the wireless signal is strong enough for the Roku device
- The device will have a better signal strength if it is placed closer to the router
- If all else fails, Restart all connected devices such as the media player, router and the TV
- For Roku device restart Select SETTINGS then select the SYSTEM option and SYSTEM RESTART
- For Roku TV restart Select SETTINGS then select the SYSTEM option followed by POWER and SYSTEM RESTART
- Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for resolving issues with your router
- In some cases, unplugging and reinserting the power cable is enough to reset a device
- However, some advanced Roku devices have a reset button for this process
- Once the reset is complete, the media player will automatically connect to the router
- If not, first complete the network setup before proceeding to the software update
- During network setup, connect the Roku to the router using a wireless connection or using a wired connection
- All Roku devices have the capability to Connect Wirelessly
- If you are unable to establish a wireless connection with your network, connect the media player with the router using an Ethernet cable
